Dear Ministers
Feb. 26th, 2014 07:09 pmI have recently been concerned with the standard of service from Austraila Post in my area. I have taken to Twitter to air these issues and discuss them with Australia post and they are in denial.
I live in **** WA with my elderly father. he has a gammy knee so on Sudnay the 8th of February I ordered 2 patella supports, one from China and one from Hong Kong. Previously my experience with Hong Kong orders has been they have arrived in about a week so after 2 weeks I started to get annoyed
My father was in increasing pain from his knee. he also stays at home most days and mentioned to me that he had not heard the postie go past for about a week.
I asked Australia Post if there has been any issues with deliveries from the Bibra Lake Distribution centre. They told me no and informed me to go back to the sender to check when it was sent
I informed the, that there were two packages coming to the same address from different senders, it must be more than co-incidence that both were delayed. I also pointed out that I am more likely to believe eBay sellers than Australia Post as we have previously had issues with our mail, which was correctly addressed, being put in the mail boxes of random neighbours.
Today the one from China arrived. it turns out it was posted on the 11th, but that's still 15 days to get to here which is beyond excessive
Today a bill from Telstra also arrived. The bill was dated the 20th of February. Telstra informs me it should take 2 working days from that date for the bill to arrive so it *should* have been here on Monday. Anytime before today.
To compound this issue, I would use a parcel locker, I think they are a brilliant idea, it is just that no where in the City of Cockburn has them. Neither do they exist in the neighbouring Town of Kwinana or the Town of Fremantle. We have to go to the suburbs of Palmyra or Rockingham to get to our nearest lockers. Palmyra is over 17kms away and Rockingham is about the same. Neither is anywhere useful to anyone.
My suburb may be semi rural, but we are well within the Perth Metropolitan area. if this is how bad the service is here, I would hate to think how bad it is in a regional area.
After mentioning this on facebook, a friend in ****, Queensland mentioned that she is getting random neighbours' correctly addressed mail in her letterbox. Another friend of mine who lives in an apartment in **** says that on many days she will come home to find all the buildings mail tossed on top of their collective letter boxes with no attempt made by the postie to put the letters in the individual mail boxes that are right there. That is not only shocking service but a massive breach of privacy for all the residents.
The service of Australia Post needs to be sorted out and it needs to be done yesterday.
Hopefully I will get the other patella support tomorrow, though I shan't be holding my breath.
