last night i saw the dark knight, one of a list of movies i have wanted to see of late and havent got around to (like mama mia, Indiana jones and something else which I cant think of atm)

so the dark knight

brilliant.

i love the disappearing pencil joke by the joker.

I think heath ledger should get a posthumous oscar for that, I mean, all these people who sat there upset that this was his last movie and he was now dead, didnt watch the movie. he was more than brokeback mountain, more than two hands, more than anything like that. it didnt occur to me in the film that it was heath ledger, he was older, sadistic... he was the joker.

in saying that though, Christian bale was brilliant and HOT. I think he was hotter in this film, than in the last.

i have to admit, i am a bit over fight scenes, but yeah, other than that, brilliant

There was only about once during the movie when I remembered Heath Ledger as an actor, and didn't just lose myself in seeing The Joker on screen. And I really think I only thought of that because I went in thinking about how he'd do, if that makes sense.

I thought he was amazing. Totally made the role his own, I never compared him to Jack Nicholson when watching the movie. Awesome :D

someone asked me to compare it to nicholson, btu i havent seen the 90's bat man movies.

i dunno. i thought he looked old, like someone who had been in a psyc ward for ages and he embodied the charactor and when he came onto the screen he looked amazing and i was sold. from then on he wasnt heath ledger, he was the joker

I think his whole character - makeup and acting - really sold it as a character, not as an actor. Definitely saw him as the Joker, and not heath.

I actually saw the joker as Jack Nicholson more than I did as Heath Ledger. But that wasn't much either, and it was pretty much all Joker.

I think it's been so long since I've seen Jack Nicholson in the role that it was easy not to compare him, you know?

depends on which joker you expect to see. as long as it isnt the lame arse 1960s joker

hmm... I passed up two opportunities to see that movie recently. One in Hong Kong because the screening I wanted was booked out (the next screening being 2 hours later, and leaving me unsure wether I'd be able to catch the train home) and the other because it was a dodgy screen-cam (low quality) and I couldn't bear to watch Batman in dodgy quality.

So I'll wait with eager anticipation to see the movie properly - and either enjoy the disappearing pencil joke, or be totally grossed out by it (possibly both at once).

I think not watching the cam version for the first time is a great idea. MAAAYBE after you see it in the cinema, if you want to rewatch it again and know what you're seeing. But I definitely wouldn't do that first.
