Andrew Lambrou tried to represent Australia last year with Electrify which was a weak song and finished 7th in the National selection contest Australia Decides. Lambrou is of Greek-Cypriot descent and though he was announced as the Cypriot representative at Eurovision in October last year, the song was not released until March this year

Break a Broken Heart was written by a group of Scandinavian songwriters and internally selected to represent Cyprus. What we need to see is how he does the vocals live, seeing he was not entirely live at Australia Decides and was knocked out before the live shows in X-factor in Australia. Though this song is better than Electrify it will need a much better performance that he put on at Australia decides to get any traction.
Cyprus, or the other Greece, has had little success at Eurovision other than a second place in 2018 with Fuego they have not been top three. In 1987 Cyprus made the top ten finishing 7th which was a good result, possibly that 12 points from Greece pushed it higher than it deserved though.
