Pre-season Experts
Apr. 21st, 2013 08:05 pmPrior to the start of the 2013 April premiership season some experts was saying that the West Coast eagles were premiership favourites. Since then the West Coast eagles have lost three games out of the four that they have played this season. The only game may have one has been against the hapless Melbourne demons, so I don't think that one really counts.
I don't make a habit of questioning experts. When I see a medical specialist I believe everything that they say to me. I'm not sure then how football experts could get the 2013 season so wrong.
The question is which experts were the first to call West Coast premiership favourites. A lot of people named them in their top eight however it is a big jump the channel Seven in their recent commentary to still refer to them as premiership favourites, though perhaps it's got something to do with a perceived conflict of interest that channel seven has.
Maybe the conflict is a little more than just perceived. Channel seven is the free to air broadcaster of the AFL. They and their parent company, Seven West media, are also major sponsors of the club.
Granted it wasn't just channel seven commentators that put the West Coast eagles in the top four, But they did also . Could some of the non at channel seven commentators have just been jumping on the bandwagon, or with a scouting for jobs at seven
Look at the west coast eagles now though. At this rate they will have no members by the end of the season, well here's hoping anyway.
The only thing by experts can agree on is that this will be an interesting season. If the games don't stay interesting, the off field antics and politicking will keep us following until the end of September
