I don't want kids. I wouldn't have a clue what to do with them if I did have them. Kids are not like a new car that you can drive around town or like a new new shoes to go with your new dress that you wear out for all to see, though some people seem to treat them like they are. Kids are a responsibility, and a responsibility that I don't want to have. I have spent 20 years of my life avoiding this responsibility in many ways which is why when I people debating wither I should have the right to terminate an accidental pregnancy, I will stand up to defend it, for me and for all woman.

There are statistics out there that in the western world, about 1 in 3 women will have an abortion. Firstly, I want to know what constitutes an abortion. Some Catholics believe that the Morning After Pill is abortion. In the days when you had to see a Doctor in Western Australia to ever get the Morning After Pill, I had a Doctor refuse to prescribe it because it was against HIS religion.

If the Morning After Pill is not included in these statistics, it could possibly be considered by some to be 1 in 2 or even 2 in 3 have had an abortion.

Do these statistics include RU486? Is there any women out there who have not have done something that could be considered to be medically interfering with the continuation of a pregnancy?

These statistics don't include using things like Pennyroyal to induce an abortion at home. Who knows how many people have used natural remedies to cure themselves of a pregnancy. how many women have gotten sick or even died trying to use this, or other methods to induce a miscarriage?

How many women have committed suicide to escape from the shame?

Shame runs so deep.

There is the shame a girl feels when she thinks she is in love, only to find that she has been used.

There is the shame a woman feels for her own body when it has be violated by rape.

There is also the shame of falling pregnant, either from any of those situations or just not being in a stable relationship. What can you do if you have an unwanted pregnancy? You have to do something before people know, because once it gets obvious... oh the shame.

So what can you do, who can you talk to and what must change?

A lot, anyone and everything.

Personally, I would prefer my tax dollars going to fully government funded abortions rather than a Breeder (sorry, Baby) bonus. We should name and shame Doctors and organisations (like St John of God Health) who WONT perform these medical procedures and even de-register them. Finally we have to talk about this freely and rationally.

It is ok if you have had an abortion and I will not think less of you as a person.
