Eurovision Review: Slovenia
Mar. 30th, 2009 06:26 pmSlovenia
wins: none
expected place 8th in final.
Highlights
when the song began... at 1.05 into the music
Lowlights
the noise at the end of the song... that was not a note.
Slovenia: Quartissimo feat. Martina 'Love Symphony'
for a minute there, or a minute and 5 seconds to be precise, I thought Slovenia had forgotten that this was a song contest (which isnt unusually, many countries have forgotten that one). nothing against the piece of music, but song implies vocals. they eventually kicked in... a bit late into a song that can only go for three minutes
This year the songs are either horribly bad, very average or attempting to add culture to the contest. this song could damage the hopes of the UK (like they had a hope) and Norway. it is also not the first time Slovenia has tried to inject clture into the Eurovision song contest. in 2007 they entered a opratic pop song. it failed.
this is not horribly bad, except for that last note that she missed by a mile, but really, unless Italy comes back into Eurovision, Slovenia wont win. yay for political voting.
Ghost of Eurovision past: Eva Sršen 'Pridi, Dala Ti Bom Cvet' (1970 representing Yugoslavia) ok yes this is cheating, but she is Slovenian and she went to Eurovision. I actually think that this song is better than the one that won in 1970 (*ducks from the Irish backlash*) and this came second last. *sigh*. this song is worth it though, but mainly for the backgroud. go the balls!
