Appearances: 58
Wins: 4
Selection method: Internal Selection
Vote: Too many Dutchies passed on the left hand side to be able to vote…
Winner: Waylon
Song: Outlaw In 'Em
An American, a Russian and a Dutch man walk into a whiskey bar… and walk out drunk 3 hours later having written this song. It may be country crap but country has had a history of doing ok at Eurovision. Even Germany has given Eurovision country, so this could finish quite well.
Waylon is a Eurovision repeat offender. He last appeared at Eurovision in 2014 performing as part of the Common Linnets 2nd with more country crap. It was the most boring performance of the night and it still finished second to Conchita Wurst. This song is more up-tempo country and sounds like something that would go down well in Nashville. Eurovision is about as far from Nashville as you can get though.
Most of the outro of this song will be culled to stay under the 3 minute limit for a Eurovision song. It won’t hurt the song because the outro is about 2 minutes too long anyway so goodbye guitar solo.
The Netherlands has a history of repeat offenders going back to Corry Brokken who’s third tilt at Eurovision glory was in the third ever Eurovision in 1958. After winning in 1957, Corry finished last in 1958.
