Eurovision 2018: Serbia
Apr. 13th, 2018 08:32 pmAppearances: 10
Wins: 1
Selection method: National selection Beovizija 2018
Vote: Jury and public vote (50/50)
Winner: Sanja Ilić & Balkanika
Song: Nova Deca
Serbia is sending some Ethnic shit to Eurovision. That succinctly covers this song and is about all the repeated four lines that this song deserves. Despite this it will qualify and probably do ok in the final.
If they nail the vocals, this will sound spectacular at Eurovision, though it does appear to reek of a couple of 90s winners. The major difference between this and songs like Nocturne and The Voice is a dance beat and the heavy ethno-pop sound. There are people that tend to like this sound but those people are generally in their late 40s and early 50s now.
It is a shame that they won’t be able to have the instrumentalists on the stage at Eurovision. They will have to stay at home so the three vocalists that are in the shadows can be on the stage. That is the problem with having 6 vocalists in a group that has 11 people in it. None of the 5 instrumentalists will fit onto a maximum 6 person Eurovision stage.
After Serbia won Eurovision in 2007 the send some whining ethnic pop to Eurovision. They have good music in Serbia, they just avoid sharing it with the rest of the world.
