IVAN - Help You Fly
I have not seen anything this 80s for a while. Some of the music sounds like it has come from an 80’s corporate education video for Health and Safety. The background graphics remind me of the video-clip to ‘Let’s Get Rocked’ by Def Leppard, but dodgier. Then there is that head graphic that I think is meant to be IVAN but looks more like Kryten from Red Dwarf. Not all bad but definitely not good.
IVAN wins the award for the weirdest entrant in this year’s event after rumours circulated that he intended to perform in the nude surrounded by live wolves on the Eurovision stage. Fortunately all parts of that are banned in the rules for Eurovision.
IVAN may be able to carry rock vocals but that doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter about how weird he is, it doesn’t matter about the song. All that matters is that Belarus is in Eurovision to give Russia the big points.
The bookmakers rate this year’s Belarussian entry as having not much more than a snowballs chance in hell, but then what do the bookmakers know. They thought Belarus was going to win in 2005
