to my local IGA
Oct. 10th, 2012 08:33 pmHi,
I would just like to send you a friendly little email about bait advertising.
I frequent the Park Hive in Hammond park because I live between two IGAs and they one in In Beeliar, well they are in Meve and I hate trying to drive through that estate. I also go to the Hive because I love the staff, they are always friendly, Sure the Hive doesnt always have what I am looking for (like the Bristos stain remover I use) but I forgive them because they are so nice there.
today I went online to get this weeks catalogue and saw that Mighty soft Raisin toast was on special. my dad is a pensioner and I thought I would pick him up one as a treat. he doesn't like me spending too much month on him but $1.99 he wouldn't mind.
there were none on the shelf, which ok, I can maybe accept at 1730, but what I noticed that there was only a spot on the shelf for 2 loafs of this raisin toast, one in front and one behind.
I also noticed that the tip top raisin bread was also on special but at a much higher price (i think it was $3.57). both of these are raisin toast, both had sale tags on it, both have similar colour bags, and one can be forgiven for picking up the wrong one when they walk into the store.
this is not my greatest concern, but it is a large one and all part of my belief that this was bait advertising.
the more expensive raisin toast had space for about 8 loaves on the shelf and there was at least 4 loaves on the rack.
under fair trading legislation, you must supply for the expected demand. I can accept that at 5.30pm it would be a bit beyond the time you may expect demand to cease, however to have so much of the other brand remaining? and to have given the other brand throughout the day more space on the shelf than the Mighty Soft bread?
I am disappointed and I am sure that this will be looked into and the practice will cease for future sale items
