Eurovision Review: Belarus
Mar. 24th, 2009 06:44 pm Belarus
Won: never
Expected place - 10th
Highlights:
it is a song that is intentionaly humourous... I hope.
lowlights:
perfomance, though there was more than Albania, there still isnt much to see here.
Belarus - Petr Elfimov 'Eyes That Never Lie'
I want to see his ears! I want to see is Mr Elfimov is a real elf. *pout*
anyway there are three reasons why I think this song is a pisstake
1) the hair, no one can be taken seriously with that hair
2) the outfit. white pants are a privilege not a right.
3) the lyrics, like 'You are my desert and well, You are my heaven and hell', and even though his english singing isnt bad, I cant help but to sing this line with a bad eastern European accent because you need a bad eastern European accent with those lyrics.
This is probably the best thing Belarus has ever sent to Eurovision (which wasnt really that hard) and, if they work on the humour angle a bit more and give a better performance, this will do well. It wont win, god no, it cant win, but it wll do well. but then, I also said Lordi wouldnt win...
Ghost of Eurovision Past: Aleksandra & Konstantin 'My Galileo' (2004 semi) This song failed to qualify for final, I cant see why... did I mention that it isnt hard to be the best thing Belarus has ever sent to Eurovision. sure this was Belarus' first attempt at Eurovision, but surely they understood that a song contest requires a quality song...
