well here we go again.
The first song is from one of the big four. with popular voting and especially since the introduction of the semi final system, the big four (Spain, France, UK and Germany) have been unpopular because regardless of their entry, they go straight the the final.
Last year Germany went big Band with 'Frauen regier'n die Welt'. Roger Cicero is quite popular in Germany and was a favourite for the top ten. his song finished 19th out of 24, despite the fact that is quite pretty good (ok I am stretching good, but this is Eurovision). It was atleast the highest placing of the big four.
good:
Boy bands generally fair fairly average, and well, Spains D'Nash came 20th with 'I Love You Mi Vida', which was a generous result for a very average boy band
bad:
The final member of the big four is France with Les Fatals Picards and 'L'amour à La Française', because the UK was included last week. This song was Hugely popular before the event, however France came equal 22nd with the UK actually with only Ireland lower than them. this song is meant to be humorous, however humour never translates well to Eurovision. this issue I have with this song is the excessive use of pink and that we had to remain sober through the song because this passes as a 'musical experiment' and in the Eurovision song contest drinking game it is only a drink if 'France does not conduct a musical experiment'.
Ugly:
