mouth go boom
Jan. 30th, 2008 08:28 pmanyway so about an hour or so ago, i was putting around starving, wondering what to have for dinner. i looked in the freezers and found mince and chicken. not in a mince mood and really hungry so i thought chicken and put it in the nuker to defrost. I then pottered around thrying to work out what to do with the chicken, i could do a stirl fly... I have some frozen veggies.... hhhmmm
so I looked in the pantry and i have a few packet mixes I bought ages ago. there was tikka marsala and rogan josh or something else indian, and well i had indian last night. then I spied a packet of trident thai green chicken curry paste. I had never tried it and, though love mccormacks thai green curry powder (which is mild-medium), trident is usually cheaper and a pretty decent quality, so once upon a time, in an adventurous mood, i purchased this paste.
I only nuked about 300-400g of chicken, and the destructions required 750g, but well.... there would be veggies...
so I start to make dinner... and sure, it looks like what may come out of my own arse after eating the stuff to start off with, once the coconut milk was added, it looks edible and was gong well.
i think wipe some curry of the spoon with my finger to try it and was disappointed with how mild it tasted, but just as i finished thinking that, the curry started to kick in
the flavour intensified rapidly, from mild to warm, to hot to ouch to 'where the fuck is my bottle of water'. damn it was good.
with a small bowl of curry, I was so full... mainly because I consumed about 750mls of water with it so I could consume it. in the end my lips were burning and so was my tongue, but I was immensely satisfied.
the moral of the story is, buy trident green curry paste... in stupid amounts...

Date: 2008-01-30 09:47 pm (UTC)i remember being about 13 and making a goulash and i thre heaps and heaps of paprika in because i could never taste it, then mum added salt later and, well huge quantities of paprika already have a saltiness and then adding wog quantities of salt on top of that.... didnt turn out well. it was dad who started adding chilli flakes to anything with paprika so we could taste it. at first i thought he was mad, but now i see it as genius.
see so I have had an immunity to mild hot food all my life and so if I want to taste hot thinks, it has to be medium or hot
