Eurovision 2018: Poland
Apr. 15th, 2018 04:43 pmAppearances: 20
Wins: 0
Selection method: National Final Krajowe Eliminacje 2018
Vote: 50/50 Jury and public voting
Winner: Gromee feat. Lukas Meijer
Song: Light Me Up
Another dancy little number made for European summer. If you get enough of these and play them back to back they would probably sound like one song that goes for hours and hours. Different lyrics but the dame song “Help me to ignite, the spark I feel inside, So Help me now. Light me up, light me up my baby, Light me up and tell me where to go-o-o”. Sounds like a suicide bomber.
If the Jury had their way the overall second place getter, Happy Prince, would be going to Eurovision. Happy Prince is like the Polish version of The Police, though not as good. Sadly the public chose the better song. Doesn’t appear there was much of a choice.
Poland is not known for great Eurovision songs. They are more infamous for “We are Slavic” which featured milk maids. They may bring back the milkmaids to improve this year’s performance. They will need something. The summer songs may be popular but it is the performance that wins the Eurovision.
Performance is part of what was lacking in 1997. Also missing was a decent outfit and a good song. At least they sung it well.
