Eurovision 2018: Semi final 2 preview

01 Norway Alexander Rybak "That's How You Write a Song" - Returning in the hope of more glory he will learn what it feels like to not win. He does put on a show though
02 Romania The Humans "Goodbye" - They are trying really hard to be interesting.03 Serbia Sanja Ilić & Balkanika "Nova deca" (Нова деца) - this appears better in rehearsal than it did in the music video. A weak final could see this go through
04 San Marino Jessika feat. Jenifer Brening "Who We Are" - Justice for Valentina? are they saying they want her back next year? No not again!
05 Denmark Rasmussen "Higher Ground" - Probably one of the better songs this semi.
06 Russia Julia Samoylova "I Won't Break" - Madam Trashheap is so not qualifying
07 Moldova DoReDoS "My Lucky Day" - This looks like a kids TV show performance. Primary colours for primary school
08 Netherlands Waylon "Outlaw in 'Em" - Surprising that this is not better with the bookies seeing country often does well. Average performance though
09 Australia Jessica Mauboy "We Got Love" - We should never have sent Jessica. Lovely girl, works hard but she is too compliant
10 Georgia Ethno-Jazz Band Iriao "For You" - Dull Staging and probably won't qualify11 Poland Gromee feat. Lukas Meijer "Light Me Up" - this is very popular with the fans online. Should qualify
12 Malta Christabelle "Taboo" - aw look it is not terrible. not great though
13 Hungary AWS "Viszlát nyár" - a bit yelly and not liked by the fans generally. 50/50 qualifiers
14 Latvia Laura Rizzotto "Funny Girl" Personally I like this song but the singer is trying a bit too hard. The staging was seems poor.
15 Sweden Benjamin Ingrosso "Dance You Off" - This is beginning to look really good... it isn't but comparitively
16 Montenegro Vanja Radovanović "Inje" - the backing wives (they look like they are in bridal dresses) are going through all the motions that have been done before
17 Slovenia Lea Sirk "Hvala, ne!" - Cher called... she wants her outfits back
18 Ukraine Mélovin "Under the Ladder" - I cannot stand Melovin, but this is popular with the fans and has got position to qualify
Qualifiers will be Denmark and Poland with Sweden rounding out three. Serbia and Latvia are borderline.
The results of this semi could form the argument that less should go through direct from each semi and a group of wildcards selected over both the semis should also qualify. Maybe the public selects 8 from each semi and the juries save 4 in total over both
