last night I bought a pvr and set up it up and went out. told dad how to use the remote and left him

of course dad starts hitting random buttons during the evening, one of them, flicked the tv to radio and then he couldnt get it back (because hitting the same random button was too hard)

this morning I get up to fix it. the pvr didnt come with a coax to connect the pvr to he tv, so dad changed the areal over to the tv, he also ripped the pvrs power out of the wall

today when I go to fix it (found the button he pressed and fixed) i found that the lovely bright sharp colour we had last night has faded to almost black and white.

also the colour on the menus is gone.

i have got to the point where I rtfm'd and there is still nothing about how or why this has happened.

i leave him with it for one night and he has cactused my pvr.

Sometimes the video settings or video menu are a mispress away - changing the PVR to NTSC output could cause that...?

Or a nearly-useless video cable or socket.

yeah I called smiths electronic dick and they suggested cable.

I searched the forums and the only other person who had this problem was told it was their tv, twice, by the same guy. and yes, I tried a different tv for humour value (and for the effort of moving the 52 cm to the room that has an areal socket)

It has been tried to a number of aspect ratios ending in i and p and no change. now to pull apart my speakers on my pc to get some av cable free to test the cable
