Wins: 2002
expected place - not to qualify
Higlights
the hairstyles < /sarcasm >... actually who am I kidding, the sarcasm never ends.
lowlights
the outfits.
Latvia - Intars Busulis 'Probka'
The Russian language version (Probka) will be performed in Eurovision. Above is the Latvian version 'Sastrēgums', both of which mean the song is about a Traffic Jam - great theme, why hasnt anyone performed a song about Traffic Jams at Eurovision before...
It songs lake a harder version of 'Quicksand' by the Hoodoo Gurus, just crapier, and 'Quicksand' isnt one of the best songs by the 'Gurus either. people in Latvia voted for this! I woud hate to hear what it was up against...
There are two things that confuse me about this song:
1) is the hair on all the singers (including the backing singers). I think there was a time where
loic may have been able to imitate he lead singers hair and the backing singers, thats me when i get up in the morning.
2) the backing singers outfits. OK the lead singer doesnt want to be outshone by the girls, but WTF Mate! thats just cruel. thats worse than the kind of thing a bridesmade would be made to wear.
Ghost of Eurovision Past: Brainstorm 'My Star' (2000). this was Latvias first attempt at Eurovision and what is spectactular about this song is nt that it made it to the contest, not that the band made it to the venue (thought it is still unknown if they drove or flew, but looking at the singer, I think it was the later), but it is that this song came third. this is with (popular) televoting, this came third. 2000 was a lean year for Eurovision...
