Paulini
We are one

Paulini, like the majority of artists in this competition, came to the nations attention from a talent show. Now days when she is not bribing people for a drivers license, she does a bit of musical theatre. She has to do something to pay for all her fines for driving without a license.

This song has all the elements of a Eurovision song, except the big ending.  It is a retro style, it has a Young Diva singing, it is up-tempo and filled with vocal flourishes, but it is just weak. Maybe live this will sound better, but it falls flat.

This song is co-written by Rick Price, who had a following in the 90s. It may have been better if he wrote and performed his own song for the contest. The 90s are very in.

G-Nat!on
Bite Me!

G-Nat!on are one of only two groups going into Australia Decides. They are also from Adelaide, making them one of only 3 acts from out side of NSW/Queensland. The have more company in the fact that they were from a reality talent show, being finalists from The Voice Australia last year. Not always good company, but company.

This song will be popular with the 10 year olds, who would be their target market. The song seems to have been slapped together for Australia Decides as more of a dance routine. it is hard to dance and sing though and this is not BTS, this is Eurovision. You cannot use a backing track.

There will be strutting, there will be dancing, but will it be sung or screeched will be the question. This is probably not a winner but it will have a following.

Voyager
Dreamer

Voyager are from Perth and are not from a talent show, which is shocking for Eurovision and Australia Decides. They are also the grandfathers of this event, having formed as a band in 1999. Though only Daniel Estrin has remained constant since the beginning, the line-up has stayed the same for the last 4 albums, or 11 years.

Prog-rock is a scary genre, you never know where it is going to go. This went to a 90s ad for some product that wanted to appear edgy and technologically advanced. This means it has the retro element which Eurovision loves, but if it gets to Eurovision, would Europe give the win to rock 2 years in a row. What would happen to the pop music contest if that happened.

The advantage this song has is that it stand out from the rest of the songs in the competition. There is no one really competing in their genre, Is that enough for a WA band to get votes from the east coast... maybe...
