Eurovision review: Allemagne
Mar. 13th, 2010 08:43 amI didnt want to start these reviews until the end of the month, but OK, I will start now. yes it is that time of the year when I start to review each of the crappy songs that will appear in this years Eurovision. it is for my torture and your amusement I do this... of was that the other way around... anyways
Germany/Allemagne:
Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite
this years singer is Lena Meyer-Landrut, and it makes me think of banana flavoured alcohol... as usual however, the song does not make me think such happy thoughts.
if you took Bjork, brought her up in Germany and made her sing pop-jazz, this is what would be the result. it is a very German sounding love song, it appears to almost lack emotion completely.
Germany went through an Idol style selection process to choose this artist and song. up until the top two, they were covering other 'artists' songs. Banana liqueur girl (thats what we must name Lena after all) sung a song by Lisa Mitchell... yes, the same Lisa Mitchell that lost in a crashing and burning style on Australian Idol. Lisa Mitchell... WTF!
When it comes to crashing and burning, in Eurovision no one does it like Germany. why is it that no one likes the Germans. The only time they won Eurovision was in a jury vote in 1982, and that was probably half out of sympathy for Germany coming second the two years previous. it is better than getting no points, and Germany has only done that a two times, here is the second time (1965) Ulla Wiesner with 'Paradies, wo bist du'
