Eurovision Review: Armenia
Apr. 5th, 2009 11:40 pmArmenia
Wins: never
expected place: will not qualify
Highlights
I am going to give the excuse that it is late as I type this as a reason for not finding any highlights
lowlgihts
i have to endure this song again for eurovision
Armenia: Inga and Anush 'Jan Jan'
I ont watch Eurovision for the Music, if I did, I would be in tears over what they have done in the nameof music. I also dont watch it for the culture, and this song tries to lean tomuch into culture. sure it is not Armenian caulture (as all the flamers on all the forums for eurovision are saying the song blatantly rips of Azerbajani cultural music) but it still has that air of 'cultural experience' abut it and, well I am not rich enough to appriciate culture.....
To answer the question as to why I watch Eurovision, well it is the funniest thing on TV all year. whats funny about this song is that it is the perfect opportunity for a toilet break. yes, when you are watching eurovision and you want to break the seal, just wait for song 6 of semi final 1 and you will have sweet relief. if you are not in the need to break the seal by song 6, you need to drink more else you will never get through the evening.
This song sounds like it wants to be a dance song, it just needs to speed up the tempo for that. it isnt even cultural and fun like 'grandma bangs the drum' ('Boonika Bate Toba' by Zdob si Zdub) that Moldova once sent to Eurovision. I dont think this will qualify for the final.
Ghost of Eurovision past: André 'Without your love' 2006. this was Armenias first Eurovision and it was not a bad attempt. I still think if there was a better performance on the night and André waxed the eyebrow, then this could have been a serious contender. As it was, it finished 8th, not too shabby.
