Eurovision 2018: Malta
Apr. 8th, 2018 03:03 pmAppearances: 30
Wins: 0
Selection method: National selection
Vote: Split between Jury and public voting.
Winner: Christabelle
Song: Taboo
One of the more prolific contributors to Eurovision contributed to this song. Thomas G:Son, who co-wrote the 2012 winner “Euphoria” is credited as a co-writer on “Taboo”, as is Muxu who has co-written not one but 2 junior Eurovision winners. It is nice to see him graduate to real Eurovision.
Thomas G:Son had 6 songs in three national selections this year, four for his native Sweden, but only this one made it to Eurovision. G:Son is famous at Eurovision but who is Johnny Sanchez? The bio for the song says he has been writing songs for Eurovision for Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Ireland. A bit of digging found he co-wrote a song that finished second last in the Irish national selection in 2015. Considering his song lost to Molly Sterling, can he really be rated as a song writer…
One thing you can rely on with Malta is that they will give us stock standard songs. Stock standard pop, stock standard ballads, it is always the tried and true formula and nothing really new and exciting. Even if the vocals and performance improve from the national selection this song should not be a threat to the favourites, if it makes the final.
In 1991 they did better than send a stock standard song, they send a moustache for the ages. Malta, the 70s called and they want their porn star back.
