Poli Genova - If Love Was A Crime
This song appears fairly popular with Eurovision fans, which is a little political really. Considering that in some Eurovision countries love is a crime for many fans, many fans seem to relate to this song. There is no politics in Eurovision though…
This is actually a well-constructed pop song. Even the Bulgarian passage in the chorus (which translates to Oh, give me love) is perfectly placed. This is so well-constructed that I don’t know why it is just out of the top ten with the bookies. I cannot find a live version of the song to find out if she can carry the song, but by going by Poli’s previous attempt at Eurovision in 2011, she wasn’t awful. She could be a dark horse.
Bulgaria usually sends something interesting to Eurovision, not good, just… interesting. This is good for Eurovision. This will easily make the Eurovision final which will be only the second time Bulgaria has done that.
Poli is repeat offender in Eurovision and the last act Bulgaria sent to Eurovision (in 2013) was also a repeat offender. At least when Elitsa & Stoyan wen to Eurovision the first time they qualified for the final. It was a different time in 2007
