Eurovision Review: Germany
Germany
Wins: 1982
expected place: 17th
Highlights
the tap sequence, though it was pre recorded
lowlights
the backing dancers who kept stuffing up the moves.
Germany: Alex Swings Oscar Sings! 'Miss Kiss Kiss Bang'
He Stole clothes from Belgium's wardrobe... what a Copycat...and if you are paying attention to these write-ups, I am sorry about that joke.
anyway! it kinda wants to be latino swing. the last time Germany went into the Eurovision with swing (2007), i liked it better, however it did very poorly (19th). i think this is more of a traditional Eurovision flavour (crap flavour... you can get that in ice cream now too) so it will do marginally better, but then being marginal in Germany, historically isnt good...
there were what, 12 dancers, the singer, a pianist and a rather large brass section. I am interested how the eurovision performance of this will be done and stay within the 6 performers allowed on stage at the event. maybe loess dancers would be an improvement? maybe less singers could be too... either way we will find out on the night.
Ghost of Eurovision past: Nicole 'Ein bißchen Frieden' 1982, Germany's only ever win. West Germany/Germany has competed in all but 1 Eurovision (East Germany never competed). in 1996 Germany had an entry, but that year there was a pre-selection which Germany performed poorly at and was effectively relegated. out of 53 tries, one win, and they have waited longer for a win since that win than they did for it (26 years it took for the first win, this will be the 27th entry since that win and this year wont win either.
